BHS Educational Options

College Credit Plus is Ohio’s dual enrollment program that provides students in grades 7-12 the opportunity to earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking courses from Ohio colleges or universities. The purpose of this program is to enhance students’ career readiness and postsecondary success, while providing a wide variety of options to college-ready students, at no or limited costs to students and families.  Boardman High School currently offers two CCP courses on site: Frontiers in Astronomy and Seven Ideas that Changed the Universe, both being offered through Kent State University and next year, Writing 1 and American Literature and Diversity will be offered on site through Youngstown State University.

The AP Program is another educational option to earn college credits. It is for students 9-12.  Boardman High School offers 13 AP classes including the following courses: Biology AP, Computer Science Principles AP, US History AP, Statistics AP, Chemistry AP, Environmental Science AP, Psychology AP, American Government AP, Human Geography AP, Digital Art 2D Design AP, Calculus AP, English 3 AP, and English 4 AP.  Boardman High School has been acknowledged by the College Board as an AP Honor Roll School.

Credit Recovery is an online program for students in grades 9-12 that have fallen behind in their credits due to failing a course.  Students can recover the credit by completing that course online in the credit recovery classroom during a scheduled study hall.

Summer School is offered at Boardman High School for students 9-12 who wish to take courses to advance their credits such as physical education, health and personal finance, or to take courses they failed to catch up with their cohort such as English and Math.

A local school board policy is also in place for a student who requests approval for earned credit by completing coursework in a summer pre-college course offering, in a summer school other than our own and for students who test out or show required mastery of course content.
